THANK YOU PARTY PEOPLE!

We had such an amazing time, we barely remember it. Seriously.
That said, if you took pictures, could you send them along to us? We'd love to see what we missed...ha!

and people - THE VERDI CLUB - could you ask for a swankier, more festive party palace? No. No you couldn't.

A very special thank you to Mason Carroll, Melissa Craven, Andrea Cohen, Cindy Burkowski, Melissa Olson, and Katie Irwin Boudier for helping gather up the all the necessaries, decorating like pros, and for helping us get the party up and running!
And a double special thank you to Kyriell & Jon for marrying us - AGAIN. we love you.

For pictures of our impromptu mini-honeymoon to Miami, click here.
Much love, many thanks, and a big HUZZAH! to all of you amazing people. It wouldn't have been a party without you.

Dancing and Dining

There have been questions, and here are some very TARDY! answers.
Tardy is a great word, by the way.

Q: HOW MANY PEOPLE SHOULD MY SNACK TRAY SERVE?
A: This is a large potluck, with an unknown number of attendees. Californians are pretty unclear on the RSVP concept. Bearing that in mind, bring a tray that will serve a dozen or so people a taste of your fabulous offering.

Q: HOW DRESSY IS 'DRESS-UP'?
A: Well, I'm wearing a gown and a corset to start, and I can guarantee Sean Kelly will not be wearing a tie...other than that, all bets are off. It is a Special Occasion, so whatever outfit makes you feel Special and like you are attending An Occasion is fine with us. If you want to get all steam punk, or wear fake eyelashes and sequins, or really just think black pants, some nice shoes and a clean shirt are snazz enough, IT'S ALL GOOD. The main thing is that you are comfy, festive, and ready to dance and celebrate with us. BECAUSE WE HAVE LOTS TO CELEBRATE!

Q: WHAT IS AN APPETIZER?
A: That, my friend, is up to you. Finger food. Mac N Cheese. crab cakes. PB&J with the crusts cut off. bacon wraped oysters. grilled asparagus. The point is, IT'S NOT DINNER.

Q: WILL THERE BE DANCING?
A: Oh my, yes. Speaking of which, there will also be some singing. And for those of you with performance anxiety, here is a sneak preview of what we will be asking of you (sans the hippy skirts and bells):

SAN FRANCISCO PARTAAAAYYY!

** September 26, 7:30pm **

While this celebration is going to be short on ceremony and long on party, we would still like our community to be gathered up at the start for the short bit we'd like to do with you. So if you wander in at 10pm you'll still have a good time, but you will totally have MISSED OUT on some goodness. We have invited you because we want you there - As part of our deeply treasured San Francisco Family.

Some of you received little stars with requests to bring goodies for the potluck.
HERE'S THE DEALIO!

The Verdi Club is providing dish washers for your serving beeswax, so either bring your goodies in/on something recyclable, or something washable. There will be tables on which to display your culinary talent, and service (plates and forks, etc) but if your dish requires toothpicks, or a big serving item, you should bring that with you. The idea is to have you be able to walk in, place your dish on the table, unveil it, and then walk away and enjoy the party! When you are ready to go, you will stop by the Clean Dish table, pick up your bowl and roll home. Easy Peasy!

(There will be a special table for the Champagne, and another for the cupcakes.)
(If you weren't asked to bring anything, you still can, but you probably live far away and will be doing enough to just get yourself to the party. Seriously.)

IS CHEZ SWELLY REGISTERED?
The best gift you can give us is your participation in this celebration, and your continued support of us as a team. If you are prone to gifting, check here for such things.

WILL THERE BE BOOZE?

Yes, my friend, so PLEASE PLAN YOUR TRANSPORTATION ACCORDINGLY.
No tragedies on our wedding night, mmmkay?

We Did It! - Yay for Love 2.0

We had a wonderful Family Wedding Party back in Anneke's Hometown of Midland, MI.
The lovely lady you see here is our photographer, Linda Wan, and as soon as we have a link to the photos she took, we'll post it here. Sean and I are still recovering from all the festivities, and settling back into life in San Francisco.

It was so wonderful to stand under that magnificent Walnut tree and look out and see our family and friends looking back at us. Karl did a spectacular job as our Official Brother (and MC), and Karen & Jake handled the poetry readings like pros - but without the affected reading voices. Lots of photos are going up, and we'll post more soon - promise!

Gigantic Thanks to all who drove far, stayed up late, piled into planes, and worked their tails off (Mom! you rule!) to make the party happen.

FRIDAY BBQ + BASEBALL! - 7/17/09

Hello Family!

Very exciting news. Instead of a sit-down rehearsal dinner, we decided BBQ & Baseball would be way better. The BBQ meet & greet will be held at Emerson Park: Pavilion E, starting at 4:30pm on Friday afternoon! Jim & Sue Kelly will be hosting the Friday Action, so please be sure to introduce yourself, and say howdy.

HOW DO WE GET THERE?

You can walk from the H Hotel to Emerson Park! How convenient! The H Hotel is on Main Street at Ashman, and if you follow Ashman St. down towards the Tridge, you will find the Pere Marquette rail-trail trailhead, which you can follow to you Emerson Park. The auto entrance to Emerson Park is at W Main St and Orchard Dr, and if you Mapquest or Google Map it, you will get a sense of the proximity.

Trailhead Above
Come meet the other half of the wedding party, catch up with the folks you know, eat some deeeeelicious food, and have a few libations before we all stroll over to...

BASEBALL & FIREWORKS!
The Great Lakes Loons Stadium for the 7:05 baseball game vs. Wisconsin! We will be able to walk from the Emerson Park Pavilion on a path directly to the Stadium. Lawn tickets have already been purchased in a block by Jim and Sue Kelly for the Wedding Guests. We can all wander over with our full bellies together, or you can meet us at the game! Just tell the box office you are with the Kelly/Swinehart Wedding Party - tickets are in Jim Kelly's name. We'll have some blankets and low chairs, or you can bring your own.

Who will Karl root for? The LA Dodgers seed team (the Loons) or his college home state team? Only time will tell! Sean and I are going to have a hard time rooting for a Dodgers (booo) farm team, but we'll do our best.

Fireworks! One of my all time favorite summer things (well, anytime, actually) & the Great Lakes Loons are putting on a show at the end of the game. What luck! I suspect Grandpa Markeson would approve...

Updates coming soon!

Sean's Parents, Sean, and the stalwart Carole are in the midst of cooking up much fun action on Friday night (minor league baseball! BBQ! all walking, no driving!), and a breakfast on Sunday for out-of-towners hitting the road...I will be posting maps, directions, and more details this weekend. STAY TUNED!

In the meantime, here's another shot from City Hall, courtesy of Amy Weimer Cook:

Eloped in Place!

Why run away to elope when you live in San Francisco? Sean and I went to city hall for a civil ceremony with a small cabal of friends on June 3, 2009. The date for the actual 'deed' was very significant for us - Anneke's birthday is March 3, and Sean's is September 3, making June 3 a literally and symbolic meeting in the middle. This will also make it impossible for either of us to forget our anniversary, and spread the parties evenly throughout the year! YAY! We cannot wait to celebrate, and repeat our vows, with our families in July.

* REGISTRY INFORMATION *

Because folks want to do something for newlyweds to help them launch into the next exciting stage of life together, and because we are an urban couple with limited space, we have been sparing in our registry-action. The most important gift you can give us is your continued friendship and support, and to be present at our parties.

That said, if you would like to gift us, here are our registries!

For the material improvement of our domestic situation, we have registered at the following sites:

1. FinnStyle.com

2. Bed Bath & Beyond

For non-material gifts towards our honeymoon please see our Traveler's Joy site:

Chez Swelly Abroad!

For the gift of Art, our friends at Electric Works Gallery have some prints that would easily follow us through life and adorn our various walls over time, reminding us of this city where we met, and where we made our first home together.

Team Chez Swelly

You can't have more than one profile, apparently, per email address on Blogger. So here are a few pictures of the reason you might be here - Us! You are friends with, or might even be related to, work or know us. The couple. The two people who are getting married, and have invited you to be a part of that. Not just me, but Us. So pardon the single point narration as an artifact of my limited tech savvy, not an avoidance of We.

We like each other. A Lot.
